Green Road - TiO2 in Road Pavement Reduces NOx- tio2 nanoparticles-photocatalysis tio2
Green Road Using TiO2
The objective of this study is to test the hypothesis that titanium dioxide (TiO2) can function as a photo catalytic compound when used in the preparation of warm-mix asphalt (WMA). The proposed asphalt mixture would combine the benefits of WMA such as reduced energy consumption and emission during production with the photo catalytic properties of TiO2 to trap and degrade organic and inorganic particles in the air. Two application methods were evaluated, using TiO2 as a modifier to asphalt binder in the preparation of WMA and applying TiO2 to the pavement surface as a water-based solution. Results of the experimental program indicated that the use of TiO2 as a modifier to asphalt binder was not effective in removing NOx pollutants from the air stream; however, the application of TiO2 as part of a water-based spray coating achieved a NOx reduction efficiency ranging from 39 to 52%.

Poster Presentation - Tips - Ideas for presentation - How to design a poster- How to do the presentation
- Poster presentation is a technical presentation in which the poster should explain most of the things rather than you.
- The Posters should have the ratio of 40%graphics, 30%text & 30%empty space.
- The text should be readable from a distance of at least 2m
- Contrast colors should not be used
- Posters are not just images, they should convey the technical information
- Generally We should say our over-all matter within 3-5mins then we need to answer for the queries. (totally 10mins for each poster)
- The size may be A3(smaller size, more clarity) or A1(larger-can be taken on flux, less clarity) based on requirements
- To avoid less clarity in flux instead you can take two A3 size posters and place one below other

Summer Camp 2010 @ IIT-Kanpur - Summer Training Program Technofest in IIT Kanpur
Description: The Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur invites nominations from Heads of the Departments of Civil Engineering or Principals of engineering colleges in India to send their current second year undergraduate Civil Engineering students to IIT Kanpur for a “technology” camp in the upcoming summer during June 8 – July 5, 2010.
The objective of the camp is to re-create the romance of Civil Engineering profession and motivate the participants to excel in this fascinating field of human endeavor.
This camp is an experience of a lifetime for us. We met eminent personalities of Civil engineering in India who have excelled in our fields and are today role models to emulate. We also be exposed to selected videos of Civil Engineering projects, besides taking up short projects ourselves.
Getting selected to this coveted four-week all-expenses-paid Camp is a matter of pride to the second year civil engineering students across the country. For students from the non-IIT system, this is also an opportunity to peep into the ongoing technology projects in the Department of Civil Engineering at this Institute. Only two students from each college, who have performed well in academics as well as extra-curricular activities, get nominated for the camp.
